Alunite is widely used in the manufacturing of aluminum sulfate, potassium alum, alumina, potassium sulfate, and sulfuric acid [12, 13]. The objective of this work is to determine the geopolymer properties of Şaphane-Kütahya (Turkey) alunite and also to investigate the suitability of this alunite for production of geopolymer bodies.

There is a wide range of processing methods for alunite that are created in order to access the maximum recovery of alumina and its peripheral products, using various operation units such as preconcentration, calcination, leaching, and crystallization, utilizing different reagents including acids and bases.
